Sr. Director of Data & Technology
University of Wisconsin - Madison, 2019, Computer Science & Psychology
Why did you enter the tech space?
I read a New York Times article in high school about studying Computer Science and why it was an important field and enrolled in AP Computer Science with my best friend.
What motivates you?
I love to learn. I’m always motivated in technology because there is always a new skill, technology, or framework to dig into.
What's your favorite project you've been a part of?
I attended a hackathon my sophomore year of college and we won! It was a really fun project involving cutting up a stuffed teddy bear, sticking an Arduino in it, and using Natural Language Processing to derive sentiment.
Any tips for new grads?
Find a mentor. Mentors are an excellent way to keep progressing your career. They’ll help you sort through sticky problems, identify skills you can learn, and help you shape your career trajectory.
What does being a part of RTC mean to you? Any key memories?
RTC has been an integral part of my tech career. Without this community, I would likely not have graduated with a computer science degree. I found my undergraduate experience to be isolating and challenging – without a community of women validating my experience and cheering me on I would have given up. Now I get to wake up every day and improve the experience for women in tech.
