Rewriting the Code is focused on one clear outcome: measurable economic mobility for women in tech. Our goal is to unlock $5 billion in cumulative wage gains by equipping women with the skills, networks, and opportunities that accelerate career progression. This target is grounded in labor market data and powered by the strength of our community, technology infrastructure, and employer partnerships.
In 2026, we will invest in the levers that most directly increase earning power and long-term advancement: AI upskilling, leadership development, retention support, and expanded access to opportunity at scale. Every initiative is designed to move women from participation to persistence to promotion.
A central driver of this strategy is Rewrite AI. Built in collaboration with leading technology companies, Rewrite AI prepares women to thrive in AI-enabled workplaces through personalized learning, applied experience, and direct pathways to employment. By combining RTC’s trusted, high-engagement community with employer-informed training and real-world projects, Rewrite AI strengthens AI fluency, accelerates role readiness, and expands equitable access to leadership in emerging technical fields.
In 2026, employer partners, including Netflix, NVIDIA, Pure Storage, FanDuel, and Capital One, will help shape this initiative, define in-demand competencies, and create applied opportunities. This model simultaneously increases member mobility and helps companies meet urgent AI talent needs with a prepared, diverse workforce.
At the core of this strategy is our custom-built, AI-enabled member platform. Designed to deliver personalized pathways at scale, the platform matches each member with relevant training, mentors, project experiences, and career opportunities based on their goals, skill levels, and readiness. It elevates high-quality resources developed by employers, educational institutions, and industry leaders while maintaining the trust and belonging that define the RTC experiences.
By leveraging context-aware AI to recommend individualized development pathways for thousands of members simultaneously, RTC expands access without sacrificing quality. We are building infrastructure that scales opportunity, not just programming.
RTC is preparing women not only to participate in the future of work, but to shape it, lead it, and benefit from its economic upside in measurable, lasting ways.
RTC delivers year-round events and resources designed to support members at every stage of their career journey. Through workshops, mentorship, and on-demand tools, members gain practical skills, build confidence, and access guidance tailored to where they are now.
These experiences help close access gaps that women in tech often face. Members leave with clearer career direction, stronger resumes, improved interview skills, and trusted advice they can apply immediately as they navigate internships, full-time roles, and career transitions.

RTC offers immersive experiences where members step inside partner companies through on-site events, hackathons, summits, and networking opportunities. These experiences help members connect with women engineers, explore real-world problems, and envision themselves thriving at each organization.
These experiences turn curiosity into confidence. Members gain firsthand exposure to company culture, build meaningful professional relationships, and often walk away with tangible outcomes such as job offers, referrals, or a clearer career direction.

RTC removes financial barriers that can prevent members from fully participating in academic and professional opportunities. Through targeted financial support, members can access experiences, resources, and tools they might otherwise have to forgo due to cost or limited access.

2024 Impact Report
Dear Rewriting the Code Members, Partners, and Supporters,
As we close the chapter on an incredible 2024, I can’t help but reflect on the power of this community—on the resilience, brilliance, and determination of the women just beginning their technology careers. Last year, we expanded globally, exceeded expectations, and created new opportunities for each other. Every one of you gave to RTC—your time, expertise, stories, vision, and commitment to uplifting RTC members.
What We Built in 2024
What’s Next for 2025?
Technology is evolving rapidly, and we need to ensure that women aren’t just keeping up—we need to ensure they’re leading the way. That’s why we’re doubling down on skill-building in the fields shaping the future, from artificial intelligence to cybersecurity.
We’re also strengthening our impact beyond education—deepening our work in workplace retention, corporate social responsibility, and philanthropy. Because this isn’t just about getting women in the door—it’s about making sure they thrive once they’re there. And with that vision in mind, we’re setting our sights on an even bigger goal: reaching 40,000 members by the end of 2025.
This Is About All of Us
I hope you take a moment to let the importance of this work sink in—to feel the power of what we’ve built together. Because none of this would be possible without you. The members who show up, work hard and dream big. The mentors who give their time and wisdom. The partners and supporters who can translate academic frameworks to solutions that provide innovative solutions with technology.
Thank you for everything you do. Thank you for believing in this mission. And thank you for being part of this journey.
With tremendous gratitude,
Sue Harnett

"I've met some of my absolute favorite people through RTC! As a Latina in STEM, it's rare to see myself reflected in the workforce, but RTC has given me a community that truly inspires and uplifts me. Representation matters, and having friends who understand your journey makes all the difference. To me, success means thriving in tech while staying true to who I am—and RTC makes that possible!"

The Future of Tech Fund, in partnership with Goldman Sachs, offers financial support to US and UK undergraduates facing urgent obstacles on the way to graduation. It has provided over $200k to RTC members through a trust-based approach, increasing the impact as more partners join the initial investment.

RTC’s 2024 lineup offered members 30 workshops across our six main educational pillars: Recruiting Success, Interest Exploration, Confidence & Self-Care, Career Acceleration, Tech Trends & Tools, and Financial Literacy. Over 2,000 women in tech engaged and benefitted from attending these programs live throughout the year, providing an average of 9/10 feedback scores!

The first TechConnect event connected RTC members with hiring partners. With 457 attendees, including students and early-career professionals, participants engaged in small-group sessions with recruiters, attending six 20-minute sessions to introduce themselves, ask questions, and share resumes. The event featured over 25 open positions and addressed job seekers’ needs. As a pilot program, TechConnect was successful with 2025 seeing an expansion for the event.

More than 450 women participated in nine educational workshops and attended eleven company talks during our annual virtual hackathon. This year, the hackathon attracted 320 hackers, marking a 129% increase from 2023, who worked together to develop 60 projects. The women who attended the event expressed that they felt “empowered,” “heard,” “powerful,” and “supported.”

Powered by Reboot Representation and in partnership with CodePath, RTC supported a cohort of 73 Black, Latina, and Native/Indigenous undergraduate women in preparing for their tech careers. Participants completed a 10-week Technical Interview Prep course by CodePath, with strategic peer support and exclusive events. 57% identified as first-generation students. The program showed significant outcomes in HackRank performance, increased confidence, a sense of belonging in tech, and commitment to tech careers.

The 25 to F.I.N.I.S.H. Institute supports Black, Latina, and Native/Indigenous women in computer science during their senior year, enhancing agency and belonging in tech. Launched in October 2024, it involves over 75 college seniors from New York City, Boston, and Washington, DC. Participants engage in bi-monthly virtual and in-person sessions centered on Financial Knowledge, Identity Exploration, Network Expansion, Inspiration, Software Skills, and Health & Wellness. The program concludes with a graduation celebration in May 2025.

With a grant from AffirmCares, Rewriting the Code’s Summer Tech Hubs flourished in six locations: the Bay Area, New York City, Seattle, and new hubs in Boston, Toronto, and London. RTC leaders organized 32 socials for about 300 members, fostering community connections for tech interns.
Partners boosted these efforts with 16 tech crawls and five welcome events, attracting over 1000 attendees. Hosting partners like Bank of America and Liberty Mutual committed to empowering future leaders in tech. These events enabled members to build networks, share experiences, and gain insights for their tech careers.

RTC Early Career Tech Hubs supported early-career women in tech, hosting 49 events in Boston, Seattle, and New York City with nearly 600 attendees. From craft nights to meet-ups, these gatherings built community and connections.
By collaborating with dedicated volunteers, RTC strengthens ties in these areas, empowering women to thrive in tech careers and enhancing their sense of belonging.
Emerging City Socials
RTC expanded outreach to global cities, hosting socials with attendees in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Nashville, Austin, and Nairobi, showcasing RTC’s commitment to fostering connection and growth.
The Download
In May 2024, RTC launched The Download, a monthly virtual series for the Early Career community, addressing essential topics like Financial Literacy and navigating workplace challenges.

Over 2,500 women from 400+ colleges worldwide participated in the fifth-annual VCS and InclYOUsion Day events. 100% of the attendees attended without any cost to them. The events were sponsored by 32 companies directly engaging with emerging talent, hiring dozens of women in the following months!

In November 2024, Rewriting the Code hosted its first UK Career Summit, bringing together 60+ students in London alongside GSK, Palantir, Bank of America, and Visa.
RTC supported students traveling from across the UK with financial stipends. The day featured a keynote by Founder & CEO Sue Harnett, upskilling sessions on personal branding and engineering at Palantir, discussions on Data Science careers, and CV reviews. Students connected with employers and each other during networking lunch and celebration drinks.

RTC conducts surveys to support members and partners. In 2024, we launched the Recruiting and Internship Experience surveys to guide best practices for recruiting and retaining women, providing valuable data for partners.
We also ran monthly Pulse Surveys for consistent feedback, allowing partners to prepare community-related questions, which we turn into actionable insights.
We distribute the Graduation Survey in Spring, Summer, and Fall to gather employment data and assess RTC’s impact on graduates, celebrating their achievements with stoles. Additionally, we conduct an annual Member Experience Survey to evaluate RTC’s impact and inform programming changes.

RTC offers immersive experiences for members to visit partner company campuses, connect with women engineers, and explore how they can contribute.
The Capital One Leadership Retreat gathered RTC’s Black Wings, Latinas de RTC, and Tech Natives Leaders for two impactful days at Capital One’s McLean, VA headquarters, featuring strategic planning, educational workshops by Capital One experts, and leadership development to empower participants to lead their communities.
The Goldman Sachs x RTC BootCamp Experience consisted of six weekly virtual sessions, culminating in a dynamic two-day on-site experience at Goldman Sachs’ NYC Headquarters, with professional development panels, team collaboration on app pitches, and presentations to executives.
The Palantir visit allowed over 30 RTC members to discover advancements in autonomous vehicle technology through tours and hands-on demonstrations, gaining insights into the design, build, and testing processes of drone and autonomous technologies driving innovation across industries.

Attending a professional technology conference remains one of the top goals expressed by RTC women. Unfortunately, with average conference costs exceeding $1,200 per person, attending a professional conference is often out-of-reach. RTC was proud to support over 85 members attending 5 of the top professional tech conferences. Support for lodging, travel, meals, and registration fees valued at $55,000 was awarded to members in 2024.

Our Vision
for 2025

"Before RTC, I struggled to find a sense of belonging during my past internships and on my college campus, I felt lonely and disconnected. But this past summer was completely different. Through RTC’s Summer Tech Hub events, I made genuine friendships and found a sisterhood I NEVER thought I could have in tech. "

Pivotal Ventures, founded by Melinda French Gates, has deepened its commitment to advancing women in technology by continuing to support Rewriting the Code. As part of Pivotal’s $150 million initiative to eliminate workplace barriers, this investment enables RTC to expand its educational programming, enhance member support for women of diverse backgrounds, and strengthen organizational capacity. Since its founding, Pivotal’s partnership with RTC has fueled a 30-fold growth in membership, empowering tens of thousands of women worldwide to thrive in their tech careers. With Pivotal’s continued financial and strategic backing, RTC is poised to further its mission of creating lasting change in the tech industry.
“Women have made large gains in women's power and influence in the workplace; however, our research shows that women are more likely to face barriers and make tough trade-offs when advancing in their careers. We are thrilled to provide the necessary funding to support organizations who are helping to remove those barriers so women can thrive at work.”
“As an Emerging Talent program that is somewhat nascent, we at Netflix faced a difficult challenge going into 2024 - how do we scourge through our thousands of applications to find the most stunning eligible talent for our entry-level roles? RTC has made that a breeze. Not only does RTC directly connect the dots between our opportunities and their expansive network, they personalize your experience with the members to ensure both parties are connected in non-transactional ways. Through RTC, we've hosted specialized dinners, panels, and workshops and have found direct hires from these engagements! We've been so privileged to partner with RTC, and we look to continue working with this incredible organization and the STUNNING talent that it attracts!”
